The Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lenses are known to be very high quality for their price and highly desireable. It was/is rumored that they were discontinued ... certainly a year ago there were shortages worldwide. So they became highly sought after on the used market, which kept prices high.
I think it's fine that a good lens like this commands a premium price on the used market. And I'm happy that Pentax continues to offer this lens at a bargain price! After all, for a lens which is virtually the equal of a Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4, it's a heck of a deal at 12% of the latter's price.
