For me, the slide.  The reason I made no adjustments either in conversion or 
later was to eliminate any possible bias from my system.  What you see (however 
mutated your personal viewer makes it) is what came out of the system.  That's 
the way I work with slides.  Take the picture, process (or, until recently, pay 
for somone to process) and look.  Much, much easier than any digital workflow, 
with the added bonus that I have much more time to actually take pictures, 
rather than sitting in a darkened room gazing at a screen.
