How far do you want to drive? You've got some world-class scenery in that part of the coast; Cambria, Big Sur, and the Monterey Peninsula. Driving along the Pacific Coast Highway (route 1) as the sun sets over the pacific ocean is an experience not to be missed. From Santa Barbara to Carmel is around 250 miles, most of it a spectacular drive. And, of course, there's 17 mile drive, just south of Carmel. There are good wineries all over the area - I don't know which ones offer tours, but many have tasting rooms. San Luis Obospo (the mission, but also other parts), and Hearst Castle (in San Simeon, a little north of Cambria) are popular tourist destinations, and deservedly so. As for food - it's hard to go wrong. Bad places go out of business really fast, so if you find somewhere that has been open more than a year or two you should be OK. I generally just look for somewhere when I get hungry. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
