JPEG's suck. The quality simply isn't good enough for what I need.

Of course you have to edit if you shoot RAW. That's the whole idea of
shooting RAW. It's like working with a negative. Don't you think the
lab makes adjustments when they print a negative? If you don't want to
edit, shoot jpeg. You can adjust your parameters to get results
comparable to what you'd get from shooting neg film and dropping it off
at a typical mini lab.
