Follow up. I did them myself. I used some HP matte card and envelope paper for the memorial cards.
For the bio insert, I used using some HP glossy brochure paper. All photos were B&W. I inserted about six old photos (scanned and sized down) in the bio insert. I put a picture of Mom's hands that I had taken on the front of the card. http://members.aol.com/eactivist/PAWS/pages/morehands.htm The old photos came out pretty B&W on the glossy paper. The photo on the front of the card on the matte paper came out with a slight sepia tone. I was sort of expecting that, because most inkjets don't do B&W well without dedicated inks, but it is very, very soft sepia and looks okay. And glossy paper will probably render B&W better on inkjet printers without special inks or setup. I normally use my Epson for printing pictures. But in this case, pictures combined with text, I used another printer. I had bought a Canon Pixma MP780 (fax, scanner, printer) about five months ago for business reasons, so I used it. It did a pretty good job overall on the photos. Printing at highest quality, etc., it took me about two days to print 50 cards and double-sided inserts. Of course, I was doing other things too and would go away for a while, but it did take hours and hours. :-) I printed in batches of 10. However, I ended up having total control on how it came out looking. None of the printing options locally (FedEx/Kinko's, Costco, etc.) had the quality or style that I wanted. But I not going to set myself up in the card printing business. Too time consuming. :-) I don't recommend it for anyone else either.
