As the user of both an older Minolta Scan Dual (35mm) and an Epson 1640SU
Photo flatbed scanner I would have to say I don't think it will work very
well. To me, even when the 1640 is used with the film holder and
transparency adapter I don't like the quality on 35mm. I use it for scans of
6x6 and old 6x7 negatives and save the 35mm for the film scanner.
The other potential problem is the way the 1640 seems to work. When scanning
film, the regular bulb is off and only the transparency adapter is providing
light. I guess to do this with another scanner you would have to disable the
bulb.
