thanks for the thought, Godfrey -- I do recommend the camera highly... I got my "new" one from KEH for $379 total. It was the camera only, no memory card, booklet or battery charger ro batteries - but I had all those things..... I listed my dead one on craigslist with the note "this camera is definitely dead" It does seem to me remarkable that something that looks so healthy could have been totally murdered by on drowning...
