True. And more than that. When shooting something like a concert - you don't put up a tripod in front of everybody! But a monopod is different. It kinda goes with tha camrea - you can move it real fast. Furthermore - I have used mine for "overview shots" - and put the camera on the monopod, use the camera self timer, and done nice shots "over peoples heads" in a crowded place. The benefits are exceptionally useful with a long lens, where shutter speeds need to be shorter to minimize shake, in addition to the weight and space savings when hauling a monopod is easier than the tripod.
