This didnt happen with turntables when CDs came around. In fact they
went up in price because only the quality models were still being sold
in the main and they tend to be seen as 'the last ever that you will
need to buy - which will last a lifetime'. That sounds a little like
the MZ-S doesnt it?
I think we will see professional (dont fret over the definition here!)
film cameras only in the future, and rather than digital coming down in
price, it will level off and film camera prices will rise to meet it due
to 'loss of economies of scale' etc. This is what happenned with
records and CDs.

You're going to get your MZ-S at a bargin price in about 3 years.
Why? Because there'll be so many digitals out there that every
film body made will be cust to 1/3 of its price today just to get
it out of the warehouse or off the production line.
(From prior discussion here, Pentax has wisely opened extra production
lines to keep costs down because of this inevitability, as well as
the need to tool up for the digital production, which they're too late
for, anyway.)
