With a Pentax DSLR you set white balance by putting a Neutral (gray, 
white, really doesn't make much difference as long as it's neutral), in 
the target area of your camera, (on the D it's full frame, on the DS and 
later you can use the spot metering circle), under the light you're 
taking photographs in.  Set the camera to make a test reading, and that 
becomes your custom white balance.  Simple and easy.
