I have only played with Aperture v1.1 a very little bit since it only
supports the RAW files from my KM A2 and Canon 10D at this point in
time. (Nothing I've tried has allowed me to use a Pentax *ist DS PEF
or converted DNG file in it.)

There are a lot of details and subtleties to using it, from what I
can see. Far too many to make any sensible judgment about without a
lot more experience. However, I don't like a couple of things right
off the bat:

- complex directory structure
- embedded RAW processing code in system frameworks
- requirement for a pretty high end system configuration for any kind
of decent performance

I can't answer as to how good or bad the RAW conversion is compared
to what I get out of Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw for the same
reasons as above ... too little experience with the program.

On the other hand, those friends of mine using supported Nikon and
Canon equipment are enjoying Aperture to the extent of investing in
newer, more powerful computer systems to make Aperture work very well.

I'll stick with Photoshop CS2 + Bridge + Camera Raw, or Photoshop CS2
+ Lightroom, for the foreseeable future.
