Regardless of whether it's based on any similar lenses, Leica branded lens designs for Panasonic manufactured cameras have all been very high quality performers, without exception. The L1 is certainly an attractive camera with excellent ergonomics and layout. Can't wait to see one in person ... although I'm not as impatient to see it as I am the Pentax 10Mpixel body... :-)
