Godfrey, I simply don't believe you.
There doesn't seems to be field that you're not an expert in. You have
direct information about things that most of us have to read journals to
find data on.
You're professional claims make me wonder. I've been writing software
professionally for mainframes, mini computers, and PC's, (from a time
before a PC was a MS-DOS machine from IBM), since 1982. Why the hell
haven't I heard about you anywhere other than here? I make no claim to
being in the ratified stratosphere that you inhabit so it should be no
surprise that I'm unknown, I'm a simple worker in the vineyards, but
you, someone I know must have heard of you, but no, not really.
When people start saying things like I know lots of "important people"
who share my beliefs alarm bells start to go off in my head. You do it
too often.
I come to my understanding of the current global warming, "crisis",
because I can do slightly better than simple math, have a passing
understanding of statistics, and know where to look things up. I began
my studies in college in the biological sciences, before switching to
economics and history, and lived through the "new ice age scare" of the
early 70's, and unlike most people was aware enough to remember it.. I
don't need the backing of "every earth scientist I know" to paraphrase
you, to have a jaundiced view of the current predictions. It seems to
me that you are the one who's regurgitating what you've seen in the
movies and on TV.
I have no particular wish to chat you on this matter because you are,
as far as I can tell one of the converted. You'd probably be a great
guy to have a beer with while discussing actual photography, but I like
to stay out of religious conflicts.

When you're worried or in doubt,
Run in circles, (scream and shout).
