It takes AA batteries -- that was one of the things he himself was interested in knowing.

Now the question is: which camera did he handle? By some reports there will be two 10 mp cameras -- a D replacement and a DS replacement. But it looked like the D replacement was going to be released first. It has been shown. A DS replacement hasn't. But I'm feeling better. There will be a 10 mp camera with shake reduction that takes disposable batteries. I just hope it has the controls of the D.
