IMO the AF system of *ist IS more advanced than Z1/MZ-S. The problem with the D (I'm talking of what I have in my hands, dunno for the DS/DL...) is that the motor is weak as hell. Why do I think it is the camera motor? Simple:
Take nice example: my F70-210 (yes the one;). I noticed it focussed VERY slowly on my D, like there was a mechanical problem in the lens. I tried it back on my Z1 and it worked FAST (as fast as Pentax AF can be ^^). Tried it on my SFXn ... same problem as on the D, and AFAIK SFXn/D AF subsystem do not have that much is common ...
