The Woodward Dream Cruise -- Detroit's annual automotive extravaganza -- is now just weeks away, and the metal is turning up on the avenue. I've seen some unusual machines out there, but this one is probably the most totally insane. It's a three-wheel motorcycle with an 8 liter supercharged Chevrolet engine. The engine is aluminum and the supercharger is OVERDRIVEN. It was dynoed and develops 777 horsepower AT THE REAR WHEELS! Now I've heard a lot of supercharged engines running through straight pipes in my time, and many of them were popping and banging messes. But this one is right there. Every cylinder fires with a mini explosion. Every mini explosion hurts your ears. This trike weighs about 1200 pounds soaking wet. Its power to weight ratio is far better than a formula one car. Anyone want to go for a ride? I saw a young lady on the back seat. Perhaps she should be subjected to a testosterone test. This is not a great shot. It was taken late at night at ISO 1600, f1.7 @ 1/30th with the FA 50/1.4. The owner won't allow the bike to be photographed, because he would be disqualifed from a competition for specialty vehicles called the Ridley, if it appears in a magazine. So I can't sell the pic. (He probably would be miffed to learn I got this much of a shot.) But it's here:
