You're right, I didn't mention the freebie pile -- extra packaging, batteries if you buy enough cameras, and whatever else they put on the program. Generally it's something like "buy three body+lens and get this expensive flash for half price". In the MZ days, the AA grip could be had for $10 if you were buying enough bodies+lenses.
There is nothing to stop a store from opening the outer box, selling you just the body at body-only price, re-ordering a body plus different lens and getting both that body and lens at a "kit" discount again. That is my point. Anyone who refuses to do that has no financial stake in the well-being of their business. -Aaron -----Original Message----- From: Adam Maas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subj: Re: K100D Has Arrived at B&H Date: Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:17 pm Size: 1K To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> Yes, which is SOP for all manufacturers, but the kit is more than simply a discount the retailer gets for the camera + lens purchase. My D50 was actually broken out of a kit by a friendly salesman, but many won't do that. -Adam Aaron Reynolds wrote: > But aren't the boxes inside that package the standard boxes? > > -Aaron > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Adam Maas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subj: Re: K100D Has Arrived at B&H > Date: Mon Jul 31, 2006 5:40 pm > Size: 1K > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> > > Aaron Reynolds wrote: > >>On Jul 27, 2006, at 8:51 PM, Mark Roberts wrote: >> >> >> >>>Aaargh!
