Which goes to prove nothing. In Ann Arbor when I lived there, none of 
the retail stores stocked pro gear because "it was unprofitable". So a 
couple of guys openned Studio Center Photographics. They sold nothing 
but pro gear, and at least made a living from it. 4x5, 8x10, 
Hasselblads, Canon* pro stuff you never saw elsewhere, 4x5 enlargers, 
Strobotron, etc. It was a joy just to browse the place.

*Nikon whould not sell to them because they had not been in business 
long enough at that time. Nikon would not sell their pro gear to what 
they considered consumer stores either. Obviously part of the reason 
Nikon lost a lot of the pro market.
