But here we call it "Kiwifruit", so as not to get it
confused with the bird (which it is illegal to eat),
and the people (which are illegal to eat now).
Except for my dad, he calls it "Chinese Gooseberry",
even though he is constantly hassling the Chinese.
This is the original name for it, and he thinks
"Kiwifruit" is silly or something.

I hope you mean the fruit, not the bird. Actually the
people seem to be a bit of a major export too at the
moment. There is a lot of talk about the "Brain
Drain".
