ONE DIME is what is written on the 10 cent piece. The nickel is labeled FIVE CENTS. 
Historically,
the Dime was the smallest silver coin in the US, now there is no such coins. The 
nickel was made of
nickel, and the penny was made of copper (it is labeled ONE CENT). The term penny 
seems to be a hold
over from old english based money.
