I've gone through several Epson printers over the years and here are  
some observations:

- The "pro" models tend to clog less than the "consumer" models ---  
it could just mean that the pigment-based inks clog less than the dye- 
based ink. My 2200 *might* clog if I leave it turned off for a month.  
My 925 will probably clog if I leave it off for a week.

- Some batches of ink clog more than others. With my 925, nearly all  
the clogs are with the black ink.

- If you don't use it, turn it off as soon as possible. My 925 clogs  
in as little as a few hours if I leave it on and idle.

- The newer R series clogs less than the older models. So they've  
either improved the ink formulation and/or head, or older printers  
just tend to clog more often.

- Ink is slightly cheaper in Asia, so stock up whenever you go on a  
trip to Asia.
