I've gone through several Epson printers over the years and here are some observations:
- The "pro" models tend to clog less than the "consumer" models --- it could just mean that the pigment-based inks clog less than the dye- based ink. My 2200 *might* clog if I leave it turned off for a month. My 925 will probably clog if I leave it off for a week. - Some batches of ink clog more than others. With my 925, nearly all the clogs are with the black ink. - If you don't use it, turn it off as soon as possible. My 925 clogs in as little as a few hours if I leave it on and idle. - The newer R series clogs less than the older models. So they've either improved the ink formulation and/or head, or older printers just tend to clog more often. - Ink is slightly cheaper in Asia, so stock up whenever you go on a trip to Asia. --jc On Aug 17, 2006, at 9:48 AM, Richard Day wrote: > That's why the 1800 has one of the highest clogging rates of any of > the > latest Epson printers! > > The R2400 is worth every penny, minimal issues, better image > quality :) - > More money :( > > You often get what you pay for! > > Richard > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Jack > Davis > Sent: 17 August 2006 14:18 > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List > Subject: Re: Printer Recommendations? > > In keeping with my severe resolution hang-up, I've noted that the > R1800 > advertises having the smallest ink droplets in the industry, 1.5 > picoliters. > The R2400, 3.5 picoliters, but produces "superior" B&W prints. > This is my total offering on the subject. > > Jack > > --- Brendan MacRae <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >> I'm going to be putting my digital darkroom together soon and I've >> decided on everything but the printer at this point. >> >> I want a large format ink jet and have been looking at Canon and >> Epson.
