I submitted a query through the Pentax UK site re AF540FGZ. I got an
answer from what seems to be a centralised (European?) support team
that's not encouraging at all:

> We are sorry that we are not able to give you the information you
> seek. We do however not know what the plans for this device are. It
> may be decided to not launch the device here and only keep it
> available in Japan. The decision is still pending market movement

> decision to market the flash in europe.

I expressed my interest in buying one should it become available but
left it open to buy it from abroad if they don't get their act
together. Answer below (sic):

> On the decision to purchase your flash from about, you may find it a
> good alternative because there is no saying what the verdict will be
> and when it is going to be made.

Ffordes hardly stock new Pentax stuff they told me. It seems that the
resurgence of Pentax in the US has not been followed by success in
Europe and I can't blame the products for it.
