Ahh, the Arriflex...what a great camera. The first
time I shot with the SRII I was so knocked out by it
that the 2nd AC finally put his hand on my shoulder
and said, "Ok, Brendan, we get it, you like the
camera."

The Eclair's have their following but they're really
awful. The two examples I worked with, one as an AC
and the other as a cameraman, were persnickity in
operation and loud. With the mics they use today no
camera is truly "silent" but the Eclair is a coffee
grinder.

Now, the Aaton...that's a nice machine. Superb to hand
hold and smooth as silk running. Plus, other than the
SRIII it had the best viewfinder.

Funny how times change, though. Eventually, within my
lifetime, even the movie industry will switch over to
HD cameras and so much for film there, too. And guys
like us, still relatively young, can reminisce with
the next generation and say things like, "Yeah, I can
remember when we used to have to load film
magazines...and check the gate."
