It isn't that it is "fun" Amita - it is an important part of
developing a photographic vision - it is a heavey duty
teaching tool -
this from a gal who resisted it for a long time because I
was afraid I
would mess up the developing, being a klutz.  But the first
time an
image emerged from the soup - wow - it is much more powerful
than
you can imagine until you try it.  It teaches much about
tonal qualities
and hones your vision, it forces you to select only the best
of what 
you have, because you wouldn't have time to print every
thing you
clicked off, if for no other reason.
