I'll keep this short, but... "This is an Orchestra" is a sub-title.
The record itself is titled "Stan Kenton - Prologue."
Capitol records # EASF-386, 45 rpm.

In this record, he takes each section of his orchestra and highlights small
examples of what each instrument contributes to the total, one by one.
On the album cover, Stan says:

"With high regard and respect for each other's individuality...a group of
personalities can make music wide in scope-- from tender, soft sounds to
    screaming, crashing dissonance.
    . . .
    This is an orchestra!"

This soliloquy is spoken at the very end of side two, and is accompanied by
the full orchestra to carefully emphasize his words, which he speaks louder
and louder, to be heard above the instruments' growing crescendo...

Guess who gets to add the "...screaming, crashing dissonance" to highlight the
phrase? Good ol' Maynard, of course...

As a one time musician, and contemporary of Maynards, I grew up with him in my
ears!

He'll be missed.
