I finally had a chance to look at these. I focused my attention on  
the f5.6 shots, since these are probably the best comparison. In  
general, I'd say the DA zoom comes very close to the primes in most  
cases and betters them here and there. I think that's the most one  
can expect from a zoom. In regard to claims by some that it can't  
record fine detail, I think these tests prove that it records detail  
quite well, and if it consistently betters the primes in anyone area  
at f5.6, it would be in recording detail. Thanks for taking the time  
to conduct this test and post the results. And thanks to Godders for  
reposting it.
