Yes, I believe he knew what he was doing, but he also put himself rather closer to danger than most people would, if you know what I mean. It's still a bit strange that it would end up in exactly this way, though, as it seems to me he's taken greater risks in the past.
Whether you liked the man or not, I think you have to admire his enthusiasm. ======= Yes. I agree with both too. He ran big risks, so not surprising he died young.
