Hi Scott. I have the Power Zoom version, and i really like this one. Quality is good and images are sharp and clear. I'v never used the PZ option but from what i have heard from others, this was one of the better PZ perfomers. Its a decent focal lenght for a walk about lens etc.
Its usually on my PZ-1 for B&W shots, but works well on the istD. My only complaint, and i'v mentioned it before, is at the extreme ends of the zoom, the AF will not click in. It hunts. If i move the zoom off 28 or 105 my just asmidge, its fine.
