I doubt that any is from the bit depth, unless Godfrey is emphasizing the importance of starting with a 16-bit file and doing all the processing in 16 bit. Whether PhotoShop converts to 8-bit before printing or while printing would seem to make no difference. Obviously, color space can make a difference with many images.
