Any idea how the DA21mm compares to the FA20mm in sharpness and contrast? I have the FA20 but wonder if the DA21 would be any better...

Short answer: They are essentially equivalent in sharpness. Medium answer: The FA 20 is very, very, very slightly sharper from F2.8 to 5.6. The DA 21 has an equal edge from F8 to F16.
