So far I'm not ecstatic:
- 10 more bits of noise isn't exciting... I'll have to see some benchmarks
to see what sort of benefit it provides. It has the potential to make
much bigger RAW files for very minimal improvement.
- If AA batteries aren't supported anymore, that's a big negative.
- I was optimistically hoping for an aperture coupler. I don't know how
they' can in good conscience call it a 'K' camera with the crippled mount.
At the very least, a more effective workaround than the "green button
trick" should be an option. Stopped-down metering doesn't work well with
low-light, small apertures, 3rd-party focus screens, or combinations of
the above.
- If 1600 ISO is the highest it goes, I expect to see more noise at
comparable sensitivity as the 6 Mp cameras.
Good news in my book:
- Improved resolution (obviously).
- Shake reduction is way cool... especially providing manual focal length
entry for MF lenses.
- Weatherproofing... eh. Nice, but falls under the "excellent build
quality" umbrella IMO.
- DNG open-standards RAW file is good news.
