>>> I haven't gone "Pay Pal only" with my purchasing policy (yet) but I >>> won't give positive feedback to anyone who makes me buy a money order or use >>> Bid Pay. >> >> Why? That seems unfair, unless you mention that in your auctions. >> >> With my *purchasing* policy. In other words, when I'm *buying* on eBay. > >Fair enough, but my other question still stands. When you're buying on >eBay, do you email the seller before you bid to let them know that you >won't leave positive feedback if they require a money order or >BidPay? No, but it's on my eBay "About Me" page. >Since I find feedback to be a valuable source of info about a >person, withholding it because the seller won't accept your preferred >payment type seems unfair, *especially* when you don't warn them in >advance. >If the seller specifically says that they'll accept PayPal, then it's >likely not a problem for you. But what if they say in the auction that >they only accept BidPay or money orders? Do you pass on that auction, Usually. >or would you bid and then refuse to leave positive feedback because they >don't acept PayPal, even though you knew that they wouldn't when you >bid? Right. I'll bid if I (reluctantly) find their policies acceptable under the circumstances. If the situation is exceptional in some way, I'll leave feedback even if they don't accept Pay Pal. >If you choose the second option, do you let the seller know >beforehand that they won't be receiving feedback from you? Nope. Feedback is not an automatic right. I only give (and only expect to receive) it when there is something out of the ordinary (preferrably *good*) about the deal. As a buyer I'm a *lot* more stingy with my positive feedback, for reasons that Mike Johnston's recent experience should make clear. But, as I said, this is all on my "About Me" page on eBay. -- Mark Roberts www.robertstech.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
