That's what I thought. Except I posted something here before thinking... 
I do know some French. Not much. A little less than that actually...

Like I said earlier, in other cameras, the pixel data is read from the 
sensor, then passed though a gain stage that will amplify the signal 
according to the ISO setting, then converted to 12-bit digital, then fed 
into an image processor that does further work on the data. Or that's 
how I *think* it works.

On the K10D, the data will probably be fed directly from the sensor into 
a 22-bit A/D, then to a more advanced, 22-bit image processor that also 
does the ISO adjustment. Only in the far end of that processor is it 
converted to 12 (or a few more) bits...
