It's not really an issue Tom.

Sometimes when using the AF-540 FGZ wireless, with the RTF as trigger,
I take a frame before the external flash has finished charging. The
resultant exposure is black or shows no sign of flash illumination.

I suspect one of the reasons pro's use radio triggers is is so they
don't get lots of shots of their subject with their eye's half closed.
