My advice is to know where you want to go ahead of time.

The one and only time I was in Singapore (28 years ago, on the way from
the UK to New Zealand for a temporary work assignment) I took advantage
of the opportunity to pick up some extra Pentax equipment. At the time
I had my good old MX (almost new, in those days!), the M50/f1.4 I bought
with the MX, and a screw-mount "Hanimex" 80-200 zoom.
I had budgeted for the trip, and had money set aside for the M 80-200/4,
the 28/2.8, and a second body (an ME, this time). So on the Saturday
morning I hopped into a taxi and asked to be taken to the (named) Pentax
dealership. The taxi driver assured me that the dealership would be
closed on the weekend, but fortunately he had a friend who ran a local
camera shop, and who would be able to give me a better price. I didn't
fall for that one; I insisted that, as it was my money, if I chose to
spend it paying taxi fare to a closed dealership that was my problem.
Needless to say the dealership wasn't closed, and the prices were even
better than I'd hoped (especially compared to UK prices) - apart from
the equipment mentioned above (and a Sunpak 3000 flash gun) I ended
up with a second 50/f1.4 while staying within my (gf-approved) budget.

I've still got the MX. The ME is long gone (with one of the 50mms).
The 80-200 I had until I got my *ist-D, when I traded it in a three-
way trade (here on the pdml) that got me the FA 80-320 instead.
