Subject: New and exciting PUG submission information

Hi:
Very soon after I took over management of the PUG, I started
looking at ways to make the gallery run better. In the past
year, I have made several changes to the various elements within
the gallery, always hoping that it will run smoother and with
less effort.
I quickly learned that while I had lots of ideas, I didn't know
a heck of a lot about how this stuff works. I learned what I
could about html, and when I didn't know something, I put the
word out that I was stumped and needed help.
Every time I have asked for help, someone on the list has come
through to assist me. Ralf helped with the little bit of Java
script, and taught me some things in the process. Igor has
helped a lot with various details. Rob Studdert and Mark Roberts
talked me through the web spider fiasco, and how to make a robot
exclusions file, Roger Stockton gave me some pointers about html
and web design, Jan van Wijk showed me how to mostly automate
the production of the thumbnails, and I am sure I have forgotten
several people who have pitched in with ideas from time to time.

Last September, I put forward the idea that a way to automate
the submission process would be nice. Jostein ksne came up with
the idea of completely automating the process of making the
gallery pages, which up to now have been put together by cutting
and pasting the information sent via email into a template.

It is finally ready.
Jostein's auto PUG submission form is ready to take submissions.
There are still a few minor bugs to work out, it doesn't work
with Linux yet, and Opera users have to do a bit more work, but
it has tested successfully and we think it is ready to hit the
market.

The URL is linked to the index page in the upcoming gallery, but
if you want to bookmark it for future PUG submissions, it is:

http://oksne.net/autopug/PUGform.asp.

This is now the official submission method for the Pentax Users
Gallery. Submission by email will still be accepted if
necessary, but please, use the submission form if possible.
Thanks again and big hugs to everyone who has helped out with
this project, and especially Jostein, who really made it happen.
Thanks
William Robb
