Well CRT's have to be periodically readjusted, but there is no reason for that to be a big thing unless you have run out of adjustment range on the monitor and the video card at some point. Depending upon how critical your work is that can be weekly or every few months. Electronics components drift, so you are not likely to get completely out of that readjustment no matter how much automatic adjustment circuitry your monitor has. I am using a Hitachi monitor I bought used 5+ years ago, and it still goes back into adjustment OK. Wish I could say the same for my eyes.
