I also prefer a rotating tripod collar for long lenses, but if the  
lens is light enough I will be comfortable using an L-bracket QR  
adapter for the tripod. I have one for the Manfrotto RC2 attachment  
heads and I'm sure one will appear for the K10D that mates to Arca- 
Swiss style QR heads too.
