Thanks for the compliment! I didn't bracket apertures although since the scene is fairly static and not going to change anytime soon, it would be easy to go back when I get a chance and try some different aperture settings. I was about 20' from the tree, with a 21mm f/3.2 lens the DoF changes are going to be fairly subtle between f/8 and wide open, I think.
Sometimes I do bracket aperture settings ... on this one, I made three exposures to bracket exposure time for the shadow values. It was a very bright, contrasty day.
