You don't shop around enough, I would never stand for a personal 
checking account that had a monthly fee or a per check fee.  There's 
always a bank offering "free" checking, sometimes even free checks.  If 
the bank after time decides to add a fee, I'm out of there so fast they 
don't know what hit them.  I must say this was much more satisfying when 
I had relatively high balances in my regular savings and checking 
accounts.
