Well, at least we are talking about the PUG. I should hold off
on these tantrums until the middle of the month, after the new
gallery has started to get stale.....
No insults were intended to any of the submitters using non
Pentax equipment for their submissions.
I have always tried top run this gallery with some sort of
consensus with the PDML, so periodically, I like to get peoples
thoughts WRT aspects of the gallery.
Personally, I would like to see the PUG as 100% Pentax cameras
and lenses, but this is not going to happen. I do fear that
under the guidelines of the past while, we will more and more
find the gallery images identified as Canon, Nikon, etc, and
dammit, this is the Pentax gallery.
Having been guilty in the past of some pretty infantile posts, I
am not about to chastise anyone for getting personal on the
issue, but I would ask that we try to stay polite and not insult
each other. This is, after all, just the internet. It is not
real life.
I would like to distil the submission guideline regarding
equipment down to one unequivocal but inclusive sentence. I find
it easiest to arbitrate submission acceptability if the rules
are spelled out clearly in advance.
"Submissions must have been made using Pentax Digital, 6x7, 645,
K-Mount or M-42 screw mount camera equipment. Third party
equipment is welcome if it is Pentax compatible, and either the
body or lens is Asahi/Pentax"
Does this provide sufficient compromise for the spirit of the
PUG, while at the same time indicating a preference for Pentax
created images?
Thanks
William Robb
