Another stick of memory should drop right in, and should make a
noticeable difference.  If you've currently got one stick, putting
another DDR stick in the same bank on a lot of DDR motherboards will
make everything speed up a bit beyond just having the extra memory,
because it'll interleave the accesses to the two sticks.  So, while one
is busy, the CPU/chipset can be setting up the next transfer for the
other one.
