Many thanks to everyone who's responded. It really means a lot to me.

I actually got seven pre-orders for the K10D and various accessories just
from PDMLers, was expecting a couple more once the camera was in the store,
and had a couple deposits from walk-in customers too. The idea to sell
Pentax stuff here was mine, from when I heard the store was trying to put
together some sort of deal with Pentax. Apparently Pentax is doing what
Olympus did a few years ago, which was to try to work more with specialty
shops and local camera stores than the big box stores. The idea is that the
smaller stores are having a harder time getting Canon and Nikon gear (since
those companies send most of their stuff to the big box stores for various
reasons, which I can go into at depth if you like), so the smaller players
like Olympus and Pentax are trying to move into those vacant spots. It
worked very well for us with Olympus, and I was hoping it would work well
for us with Pentax too. Sadly, I no longer get to be a part of that.

Getting back to my point, I don't think the Pentax dealings had anything to
do with being laid off. Matter of fact, just last week he was putting
together an "Inside Your Pentax dSLR" class to add to our class roster this
December, and he was going to have me be one of the teachers for it. I'm
sure the class will still happen, if any NorCal PDMLers are interested, but
I don't think I'll be a part of it now.

Anyway. Right now I'm working on getting my Mustang sold this week and
calling up people I know who may be hiring or know people who are hiring. I
don't want to be jobless too long, or I'll get lazy.

Thanks again, everyone.
