You were not, and are not, "forced" to do anything. You've made a choice to continue using S/K/M lenses. While the reasons for this choice are yours (financial, aesthetic, build quality, etc.), it's still your choice. When you bought the DS you knew exactly what you were getting, so you went into this with open eyes and, presumably, made an acceptable choice based on your situation. So, why complain now? Did you buy the camera under duress? I'm reminded of an early National Lampoon issue that showed a picture of a dog on the cover with the headline "Buy this magazine or we'll kill this dog. Was your dog in danger when you bought the DS?
