What's the accepted ASCII transliteration for the time before
Unicode? Isn't it "Paal"? (Pal/Pel/Paal, could you please
let me know whether I've got that right? I seem to remember
seeing your name written that way in the past at some point.)
If so, well that at least wouldn't be insulting, though it
still wouldn't be as nice as spelling the name correctly.

PS: I've been having to learn about Unicode myself, because I'm
trying to get some Middle English songs ready for performance, and
find myself needing to type the characters thorn, edh, and yogh.
All three have Unicode values, but many fonts don't include them.
Any font designed for Icelandic has the first two, but the third
is _really_ hard to find. I've solved the problem on the Mac, where
I can touch-type all three, and _partially_ under Windows where I can
cut/paste them but not type them, but not yet for Linux, which is
where I run Ghostscript, so printing them out in sheet music is still
a problem. Wheeeeee.
