John, I do fully understand the key difference. When the EOS was 
introduced, I was selling Canon equipment. I got the speil from Canon 
themselves.
You are so fixated on your one point of debate that you are ignoring 
logic.

Canon FD users were not given a choice.
They had to purchase all new equipment, lenses included, to move ahead 
with Canon.
Canon didn't have to do it that way.

Pentax has given users of older equipment (K/M lenses included) the 
ability to continue using their lenses on the newest cameras.
It's not the ideal situation for K/M lenses, but it's the best we are 
likely to get.
Make the best you can of it.
Life is too short to do otherwise.
