I have a 1550 which I've checked through many times. I've never tried
to take it through as carry-on - it's probably too big. I use 2
Pelican 4-barrel combination locks to lock it. I've never had any
problems checking it through. Sometimes customs ask me to open it for
inspection before it goes on, but that's no hassle.
