For those of you who haven't heard, Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl is a new
fiber-based inkjet paper that has a pearl/luster surface similar to "F"
surface photo paper. It's one of the new generation acid-free, archival
papers that aren't matte surface.

Anyway, I've just started working with it. In fact, I'm sitting
cranking out a bunch of prints for a client on the stuff now, which is
why I have time to make so many posts to the list this morning. I'm
fairly impressed with the paper so far.

I'm not impressed with the difficulty I had setting it up. The last
time I set up for a new paper it was Ilford Smooth Gloss: I downloaded
and installed the profile, set up soft proofing in Photoshop, set up my
print driver for the appropriate paper type and profile and banged out
prints instantly.

I went through the exact same procedure with the new Hahnemuhle paper
and got awful results. It's taken a lot of tweaking and experimenting
to get good results. From this I can only conclude that Hahnemuhle's
profile for the Epson 2200 isn't very good. Unless anyone has any other
suggestions, that is...
