I like the durability of the metal knurled Rings on the SMCT lenses much better than The later rubberized rings. In any case, I like the "feel" of the the SMCT Focus mechanism better than ANY lens, bar none, I have ever had the chance to focus. When In good non abused condtion they are simply Unmatched in that regard. jco

It is identical to the original Nikkors that my Nikon F came with. I prefer the knurled control rings on the Nikkor AI-S lenses, and think they're nicer looking.
