To do that, they would need to be in Canon's position circa 1985. They would need to be in a position where the mount had to be changed in a big way, and they would have to be introducing technology that was irresistable enough to attract people away from what they were using. Personally, I think Pentax is aware enough of long term support of product that the K mount will be usable for the duration, even if the mount gets redesigned. One thing in Pentax's favour is that they have the medium format stuff. They can make big megapixel cameras on the MF platforms and get better imaging potential than anything that can be covered by a full frame 35mm lens. Don't be surprised if a few Canons get sold when a big mp Pentax 645 digital hits the market.
